The Rodgers project combines custom concrete with a rock-and-plant landscape designed around the property's changing elevations. Curved patio edges, connecting walkways and concrete steps create a clear route around the home, while river-rock creek beds and boulder-lined planting areas carry the same flowing shapes through the yard.

Warm-Colored Concrete with Curved Edges

The concrete patio provides usable outdoor space beside the covered porch and hot tub area. Its warm earth tone complements the home's stone exterior, while the broad curved edge creates a softer transition into the surrounding decorative rock.

The patio and walkways fit around the home's existing features. Their coordinated shapes and finish make the outdoor surfaces feel connected from one part of the property to the next.

Walkways and Steps That Follow the Grade

Concrete paths connect the patio, porch and side yard. Curved sections guide movement around the home, and a series of concrete steps links the lower yard to the upper landscape area.

The rounded step fronts echo the curves of the patio and creek beds. This gives the elevation changes a consistent look while providing a defined walking route through the landscape.

River-Rock Creek Beds and Natural Boulders

River-rock dry creek beds wind through the yard alongside the concrete. They bring texture and visual movement to the landscape and form part of the project's drainage layout.

Large natural boulders anchor the beds and add scale to the slope. Smaller stones define the edges of mulch planting areas, creating clear transitions between rock, planting and concrete.

ColoradoScape Planting Around the Hardscape

Decorative rock covers the spaces between the paths and planting beds. Dark mulch creates contrast and gives trees, shrubs and smaller plants their own growing areas within the landscape.

Evergreen and deciduous trees add height, while shrubs and lower planting soften the stone surfaces. Together, these elements create a ColoradoScape yard with less lawn to maintain and room for the planting to mature.
