Masi Project – New-Construction Backyard in Firestone
A new home deserves a backyard you can use. The Masi project brings together fresh sod, a concrete patio, side-yard steppers and new planting in one finished landscape.
A backyard built for everyday living
For the Masi project in Firestone, FRSR completed a new-construction backyard with an open lawn, a concrete patio below the covered porch, and a stepping-stone path through the side yard. Decorative rock and planting beds frame the space, giving each area a clear purpose without crowding the yard.
A patio connected to the home
The rectangular concrete patio extends the outdoor space beyond the covered porch. Concrete steps connect the two levels, creating a straightforward route from the back door to the patio and lawn.
The layout keeps the covered area useful while adding an open patio with room for additional seating and time outdoors.
Fresh sod and room to grow
New sod creates the main green space through the center of the backyard. Keeping the lawn open gives the homeowners flexibility for everyday use, while a newly planted tree adds a focal point and the potential for future shade.
Planting along the edges adds interest without dividing the lawn into smaller, harder-to-use sections.
Concrete steppers through the side yard
Large rectangular concrete steppers form a path between the backyard and side gate. Decorative rock surrounds the individual slabs, continuing the same material used around the home and yard perimeter.
This gives the narrow side yard a defined walking route and connects it naturally to the rest of the landscape.
Rock borders and mulch planting beds
Decorative rock frames the lawn, follows the fence line and finishes the areas beside the foundation. Mulch beds bring a contrasting texture to portions of the perimeter planting.
Shrubs, flowering plants and ornamental grasses soften the yard’s edges. As they establish, the planting will add more color and texture around the open lawn and patio.
One complete Firestone backyard
The Masi project shows how a practical layout can bring a new home’s backyard together. Lawn provides green space, concrete creates a place to gather, steppers handle side-yard access, and planting gives the landscape room to mature.
FRSR’s landscape construction approach plans these elements together so the finished yard works as one outdoor space.
