Thornton Backyard Outdoor Living Space with Patio, Firepit, Sod & Views

The Heard Project in Thornton was designed as a complete backyard outdoor living space with a large stamped concrete patio, stone firepit, curved seat wall, sod area, decorative rock, boulders, and planting beds. The finished project gives the homeowner a clean and comfortable space for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the Colorado views.

FRSR installed a large stamped concrete patio along the back of the home to create a strong outdoor living surface for seating, dining, and everyday use. The stamped finish adds texture and detail while giving the patio a durable surface built for Colorado weather.

A stone firepit was added as the main gathering feature of the backyard. The firepit includes a capstone top and lava rock center, creating a warm focal point for seating and entertaining.

The curved seat wall helps define the firepit area and adds extra seating without closing off the patio. This gives the outdoor living space more structure while still keeping the yard open and connected to the surrounding views.

A new sod area was installed to create a large usable green space. The lawn is framed with decorative rock, boulders, and planting areas to soften the edges and give the yard a more finished Colorado landscape feel.

Decorative rock and boulders were used throughout the landscape to reduce maintenance, improve drainage, and add natural texture. The rock areas help transition between the patio, lawn, fence line, and planting beds.

The project also included a privacy screen near the dining area to create a more comfortable outdoor setting. Combined with the patio, firepit, seat wall, lawn, rock, and plantings, the finished backyard feels complete and easy to use.

The completed Heard Project is a strong example of how stamped concrete, fire features, seat walls, sod, boulders, decorative rock, and landscape construction can come together to create a finished backyard outdoor living space.
