Brighton Lakeside Backyard with Stamped Concrete & Complete Landscaping

The Rounds Project in Brighton was designed to transform a large unfinished lakeside property into a connected and highly usable outdoor living space. The goal was to create generous patio and walkway areas while preserving the open views toward the water and making the different elevations around the home easier to navigate.

FRSR installed a large stamped concrete patio across the rear of the home to provide plenty of space for outdoor seating, dining, grilling, entertaining, and everyday use. The patio continues beneath the elevated deck and exterior staircase, turning that area into additional finished outdoor space instead of leaving it unused.

The concrete was finished with a warm earth-tone color and a natural stone-style stamped pattern that complements the home, surrounding boulders, decorative rock, mulch, and lakeside setting. Broad curved edges were used instead of a basic rectangular layout, helping the patio blend more naturally into the landscape.

Curved stamped concrete walkways connect the main patio to the lower-level doors, side yard, landscape beds, and lake-facing portions of the property. These walkways create clean and dependable access while maintaining the same material and finish throughout the project.

Custom concrete steps and landings were incorporated to manage the property’s elevation changes. A coordinating retaining wall was also added where needed to support the grade and create a stable transition between the upper and lower areas of the yard.

Large natural boulders were carefully positioned beside the patio, pathways, and planting beds to add structure and help the hardscape feel integrated into the surrounding Colorado landscape. The boulders also break up the larger rock and mulch areas while creating strong focal points throughout the yard.

Decorative rock was installed along the foundation, property edges, walkways, and lake-facing landscape areas. This reduces exposed soil, improves drainage, lowers maintenance, and provides a clean background for the trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowering plant material.

Mulch planting beds were created around the patio, lower-level entrance, walkways, and boulder groupings. These beds include evergreen trees, deciduous trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennials selected to provide structure, seasonal color, texture, and long-term growth without blocking the lake views.

The completed Rounds Project is a strong example of how stamped concrete, walkways, steps, retaining walls, decorative rock, mulch, boulders, trees, shrubs, and full landscape construction can work together as one complete outdoor living design.
