Custom Paver Patio, Walkways and Fire Pit in Parker
The Workman Project in Parker was designed to turn a large but disconnected backyard into a finished outdoor living space with better access, multiple gathering areas, and a clean transition between the home, lawn, side yard, and detached structure.
FRSR installed an expansive multi-level paver patio using a natural stone-style pattern that gives the hardscape texture and character while maintaining a clean, cohesive appearance. The soft gray coloring complements the brick exterior of the home and works well with the surrounding lawn, rock, mulch, and existing landscape.
The main patio provides a broad, durable area for outdoor dining, grilling, entertaining, and future amenities. Its gently curved outer edge avoids the rigid look of a standard rectangular patio and helps the hardscape flow naturally into the surrounding yard.
A separate raised gathering area was incorporated into the design and centered around a custom round fire pit. The elevated platform gives the fire feature its own defined space while keeping it connected to the larger patio and walkway system.
The fire pit was constructed from coordinating wall block and finished with a durable cap. Its placement creates a comfortable destination away from the main covered patio while still remaining close enough for the entire backyard to function as one connected outdoor living area.
Raised retaining walls were installed along the home and patio transitions to manage changes in elevation and create a finished connection to the existing covered porch. These walls also provide additional visual structure and help define the different levels of the project.
Curved paver walkways connect the main patio to the side yard, detached building, fire pit area, and other portions of the property. The sweeping curves carry the same stone-style pattern used throughout the project and give the backyard a more natural, custom appearance.
The walkway near the detached structure creates a practical path through an area that could otherwise become muddy or difficult to maintain. Decorative rock was installed alongside portions of the walkway and property line to improve drainage, reduce maintenance, and keep the edges clean.
Mulch beds were added around the fire pit platform, walkway, home, and existing trees. These areas soften the hardscape, provide space for future plantings, and create contrast against the lighter pavers and green lawn.
New lawn areas were incorporated around the patios to preserve usable green space and balance the amount of hardscape. The curved lawn edges mirror the shape of the walkways and patios, helping the entire backyard feel intentional rather than divided into separate pieces.
The completed Workman Project gives the homeowners a flexible backyard with a large entertaining patio, separate fire pit area, improved access throughout the property, defined planting spaces, and a polished mix of pavers, walls, mulch, rock, and lawn.
