Design–Build Outdoor Living

Hardscapes That Tie Your Whole Outdoor Space Together

A great outdoor living space is more than just a patio. FRSR hardscape projects bring together the right mix of paver or concrete surfaces, seat walls, fire features, retaining walls and outdoor kitchens so everything feels intentional and easy to use.

Because we also handle stamped concrete, artificial turf, landscape construction and ColoradoScape, we design your hardscape as part of the entire yard—so walkways, patios, beds and turf all work together.

  • Site-specific design that respects your grade, house elevations and drainage.
  • Proper base prep and compaction for pavers, walls and seat walls to hold up over time.
  • Gas or wood-burning fire pits that become the gathering spot in your yard.
  • Outdoor kitchens and grill islands designed around how you cook and entertain.
  • Paver and concrete solutions that are easy to shovel and comfortable to walk on.
  • Project management from demo and haul-out to final walkthrough and care tips.

What We Build

Seat Walls, Fire Pits, Pavers, Retaining Walls & More

Whether you’re expanding a builder patio or starting from a blank slate, we can design a hardscape layout that fits the way you want to use your space now and in the future.

Gathering Spaces

Seat Walls & Conversation Areas

Low seat walls define outdoor rooms and create built-in seating around patios, fire pits and outdoor kitchens. We match materials to your home and use proper base and wall construction so everything stays solid through Colorado’s seasons.

Great for: fire pit circles, dining patios, changes in grade and patio edges that double as seating.

Year-Round Enjoyment

Fire Pits & Fire Features

From modern steel fire features to stone gas fire pits, we create focal points that extend your outdoor season. We coordinate gas stubs, caps and clearances as part of the overall design.

Wood-burning or gas, sized to fit your patio and seating layout.

Everyday Use

Paver Patios & Walkways

Paver patios, steppers and walkways connect your front and back yards with durable, attractive surfaces. We use quality pavers and set patterns that work with your home’s architecture.

Options include borders, insets, multi-use pads, hot tub pads and sport surfaces.

Grade Solutions

Retaining Walls & Terracing

Properly built retaining walls help manage slope, create usable flat areas and protect your landscape from erosion. We design walls that tie into steps, patios and planting beds for a cohesive look.

Block, decorative stone or boulder walls sized for Colorado soils and freeze–thaw.

Cooking & Entertaining

Outdoor Kitchens & Grill Islands

Build-in BBQs, counter space and storage turn your patio into an outdoor kitchen. We plan for gas, electrical and appliance placement, and coordinate with your roof cover or pergola where needed.

Ask about our dedicated Outdoor Kitchen page for appliance options and layouts.

Shade & Structure

Pergolas & Roof Covers

Shade structures make patios more usable all day and all season. We design roof covers and pergolas to fit your home, integrate with gutters and drainage, and meet HOA and city guidelines.

Many of our best projects combine roof covers, lighting, stamped concrete and hardscape details.

How We Work

Our Hardscaping Process

Here’s the typical hardscape “timeline” from first visit to final walkthrough. Exact timing depends on scope, materials and weather—but the steps stay the same so your patio, walls and features are built right and tie in cleanly to turf, planting and ColoradoScape areas.

Step 1
On-Site Consultation & Layout

We meet at your home, walk the yard, review grades/elevations and discuss how you want to use the space. We also look at drainage and transitions to stamped concrete, turf and ColoradoScape planting beds so the layout works as one plan.

Step 2
Design & Proposal

You receive a clear layout and scope with material options (pavers, walls, caps, fire features) and any add-ons. If the project includes ColoradoScape or planting, we align bed lines, edging and irrigation impacts before pricing is finalized.

Step 3
Demo, Base Prep & Utilities

We remove old concrete/landscape as needed, rough-grade for drainage, then install and compact base materials. If the plan includes gas/electric (fire pits, lighting, kitchens) we route utilities now—before surfaces are locked in.

Step 4
Walls, Pavers & Features

We build the “structure” of the yard: retaining walls, seat walls, steps, patios and fire features—set to spec with proper compaction, alignment and finish details designed for Colorado freeze–thaw.

Step 5
Tie-In to Landscaping

We finish transitions and softscape: rock, mulch, turf, planting and ColoradoScape beds so there are no awkward edges, trip hazards or drainage surprises. This is where the project starts to feel “complete,” not like separate trades.

Step 6
Final Walkthrough & Care Tips

We review the entire build with you, confirm drainage and finish details, and go over care/maintenance. If you’re phasing the yard, we’ll outline the next logical stage (turf, lighting, roof cover, or additional ColoradoScape) so the plan stays cohesive.

Questions & Answers

Hardscaping FAQ

Here are a few of the most common questions homeowners ask about hardscape construction in Colorado. We’re happy to cover more during your consultation.

Do you help with HOA and city approvals?

Yes. Many projects in communities like Erie, Superior, Castle Rock and Parker require HOA submittals. We can provide drawings, material descriptions and photos to support your review.

Can you match my existing patio or walls?

We can usually get very close with the right combination of pavers, stone and colors. During design we’ll talk through where we can blend and where a clean transition may look better.

How do hardscapes tie into stamped concrete and turf?

Because FRSR also installs stamped concrete and artificial turf, we design edges and transitions so everything drains correctly and feels like one finished space—not a collection of add-ons.

How long does a typical project take?

Smaller patio / fire pit projects may take about a week once we start on site. Larger projects with walls, roof covers and planting can take multiple weeks depending on scope and weather.

Do you offer full outdoor living projects?

Yes. Many of our favorite jobs combine hardscapes with roof covers, outdoor kitchens, turf and ColoradoScape planting. We can design everything together and phase it if needed.

How do I get started?

The first step is a consultation at your home. We’ll walk the yard, discuss budget and goals and put together a plan for the hardscape and any related stamped concrete, turf or planting work.
